Slàinte mhath!

Raise your glasses the Scottish way! Pronounced "slanch-a-va", this is a Gaelic term meaning "[to] good health" and is what the Scots might say instead of "Cheers". You might also hear me say "Slàinte mhath, a charaid (Cheers, mate)", or "Slàinte mhath, a chairdean (Cheers, mates)". Join in the fun and do it the Scots manner!

Beyond Scotland: Straya & Eorzea

The Crannog's design

The predominantly waterlogged interior of the Crannog draws inspiration from the crannogs of Scotland. In Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, crannogs are artificial islands built on the lochs dating back to the Iron Age. They supported livelihoods of the early peoples of Scotland and other places and gave a sense of community to all crannog-dwellers. The Crannog aims to bring in the warm sense of community and livelihood that all of us in the FFXIV playerbase have known and love!

Scran

Haggis, Neeps & Tatties

Haggis, turnips and popotoes, a staple for Scots. No lalas were harmed in the making of this dish.

Chicken Tikka Masala

A hearty chicken curry dish invented by a Thavnairian merchant who sought to beat the harsh Coerthan Winter.

The Day's Game

Char-grilled and served with house gravy on the side, chips and garden salad. Ask the chef for the game of the day.

The Big Parma

Chicken schnitzel topped with tomato sauce and cheese. Served with chips and garden salad.

Porterhouse Steak

Grass-fed Coerthan Angus beef, your choice of doneness. Served with choice of garden or tattie salad.

Fish & Chippies

Catch of the day, deep fried in batter. Served with chips on the side. Ask the chef for the catch of the day.

Full Scottish

A favourite meal of Eorzean and Novrandic Scots combining the best ingredients of the regions. Lorne sausages, black pudding, haggis, baked beans, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, deep-fried toast, fried eggs & tattie scones.

Bangers & Mash

Lorne sausages and mashed popotoes served with house gravy on the side.

Hoose Burger

Choice of grilled chicken, beef or lamb. Topped with fried egg, tomatoes, beet, camarelised onions, and lettuce in buttered buns. Option available for deep fried buns.

Pizza

Wood-fired and topped with game of the day, cheese and herbs. Choice of tomato sauce or white sauce.

Hard Solo

Lemon squash drink with light alcohol, a popular drink in Limsa Lominsa where lemons seem to be in a constant surplus.

Irish Coffee

Coffee with the day's whisky and cream. Invented by accident when an Ishgardian Temple Knight named Irise thought it ingenious to get by the day's drinks by mixing the daytime coffee with nighttime whisky and drinking it all in one go. Conveniently the Temple Knight records also state that Irise was discharged from its ranks for reasons redacted.

Iron Brew

A special fizzy drink originally brewed by the dwarves of Watt's Anvil, deliberately non-alcoholic to keep the sobriety of the day-drinking dwarves in check. Eulmorran authorities have repeatedly pressured the dwarves to remove the "Brew" from its name for having no actual alcohol, but this has been fervently resisted by the dwarves.

Magic Coffee

Originating from a Voeburtite village named Melbourne, this coffee was invented by the faeries of Il Mheg taking inspiration from Voeburtite culture. The Coffi Driach, as it is known in the faerie tongue, is said to possess either stimulating or sedative effects, depending on the mood of the drinker.

Gingers

Lominsan Scots word for fizzy drinks in general. Choice of lemonade, cola, sarsaparilla, or tonic.

Valorye MacSiolesean

The owner and bartender of the Crannog. She loves to listen to the stories of her patrons and aims to lift their spirits with "pure bletherins and a wee dram" as she puts it. She will gladly pour you a pint and serve you a Full Scottish, but she will also pick up her bagpipes and play a wee tune or two on the stage. Strike a conversation with her, and you might be surprised by how many languages she could speak!

Rozaleia Rarara

A faerie found in the fae wilds who agreed to be a resident Crannog-dweller because "the flower lights are pink enough for me". Since then she has restyled herself as a seelie and given her best to learn the Scots leid. She constantly shapeshifts between her little form and her even littler form depending on her mood (and definitely not from overdosing on the fantastical drinks). Claims that Valorye overharvested her faerie dust and ruined her ability to fly are wildly unfounded.

Valerie Galatea

Being a Monster Hunter was the sole profession Valerie had, until she befriended Valorye and Rozaleia. Now in the evenings, she tends to the bar and absorbs herself in not only providing solid Scottish hospitality but making sure everyone's mugs, and bellies, are full. She's always down for a short conversation and a good laugh, however, be wary of her puns - it's enough to make even the Twelve groan.
